DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE: Third Year project at Architectural Association School of Architecture
It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.
Synopsis:
The project attempts to challenge the conventional representation of a museum/gallery in a rural part of England. The focus of the brief was working with the client who owns a collection of architectural drawings on his farm - Shatwel Farm in Somerset. We were asked to design an exhibition space where the client’s collection will be displayed as well as providing a restaurant, bookshop and educational spaces for locals and visitors of the site.
Heavily inspired by the landscape, the client’s heritage and the artwork from the collection, the gallery aims to provide a unique experience for the visitors by enhancing the feeling of disorientation, mysteriousness and an almost dreamlike state while simultaneously shaping a particular behaviour while exploring the artwork
