THE CHERRY ORCHARD: FDI project at Pinewood Studios
This place has been sold; the cherry orchard's going to be cut down, soon there'll be nothing left of it. The house, the garden, the park, the lake--everything'll go. People will read about it in the papers, but they won't understand that it's dying, that something's being destroyed.
Synopsis:
The Cherry Orchard" is a play written by Anton Chekhov in 1904. The story revolves around the sale of a Russian aristocratic estate, which includes a large cherry orchard. The central character is Lyubov Andreyevna Ranevskaya, a wealthy landowner who returns to her estate after a five-year absence to face the reality of her dire financial situation. The play portrays the social and economic changes of the time, the decline of the aristocracy, and the rise of the middle class. The characters, including the estate's servants, struggle with their past, present, and future as they try to come to terms with the inevitability of change. The play ends with the sound of the cherry orchard being felled, symbolizing the end of an era.
